Simeon, a devout man of faith, had waited for a long time for the Messiah.  Finally, the day came when he was able to see this promise of God fulfilled:

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace.  For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” (Luke 2:29-32)

We don’t always know how and when our prayers will be answered, but being persistent in our faith will be worth it in the long run.  Let’s not give up on God; he hasn’t given up on us.  “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am asking for patience and persistence in my prayers, and to never have any doubt about your faithfulness and your love.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
